FAIRMONT, W.Va. — The Fairmont State University Board of Governors has announced plans to hire a consultant to conduct a presidential assessment for Dr. Michael Davis, who is under contract through June 30.
Davis, the 27th president of the institution, began work as president in July of 2023 after serving as the chief of staff at James Madison University, where he managed presidential priorities and policy.
“The Board is very pleased with President Davis’ work since starting at Fairmont State,” said Chair of the Fairmont State University Board of Governors Jennifer Kinty. “Out of respect for his accomplishments and to comply with our legal obligations, the Board will begin the assessment process immediately.”
Davis has developed a reputation for engaging with the community, students, university employees, business leaders, and state legislators to share the mission and his future vision for Fairmont State.
The BOG also agreed to extend Davis’s contract to allow for the assessment to take place.
