CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — The trial for a Michigan accused of a double murder in Harrison County extend into next week.
Allen Leon “Unc” Schaffer, II, 43, of Carson City, Michigan, is on trial formurders of Chasity Wilkinson Romeo, 33, and Corey Steven Snider, 43.
In June of 2022, firefighters responded to a fire in a home on Good Hope Pike in Lost Creek and found two bodies in the basement after the fire had been extinguished.
Prosecutors are trying to convince the jury Shaffer shot the pair over a drug debt.
On the foruth day of the trial, Friday deputies from the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department went through the investigation with the jury and a witness who was repotedly with Shaffer on the night of the murder also testified.
The judge in the case also rejected a motion for an acquittal Friday when the defense claimed there was no proof of murder and the fire was accidental.
The trial continues on Monday at 9 a.m.
