CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — The Harrison County Sheriffs Office Tax Division is proud to acknowledge the the efforts of staff to collect more than $12 million in delinquent taxes from January of 2017 through December of 2024.
Under the leadership of retired Chief Tax Deputy Jim Terango and former Sheriff Robert Matheny Sr., collections totaled $12,007,897.65 in delinquent taxes.
The efforts of former Sheriff Matheny resulted in about 74 percent of those funds to be dispursed to schools and the School Prevention Resource Officers (PROs) program. The remaining funds were distributed to local municipalities and the county general fund.
Through the period staff is committed to treating all taxpayers with fairness and respect.
