MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — A Morgantown man is in custody after a Wednesday morning shooting in the Evansdale neighborhood left one person injured.
The Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department arrested Herbert McDonald, 48, of Morgantown, shortly after the shooting tha occured at 725 Chestnut Ridge Road across the street from Ruby Memorial Hospital.
Deputies responded to the call at around 9:30 a.m. where they determined that a male victim had sustained a gunshot wound and needed to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries. A second individual was inside the vehicle that was shot at but did not sustain any injuries.
According to a press release, deputies later identified McDonald as the suspected shooter and he was taken into custody without incident.
The victim who was shot was transported to Ruby Memorial Hospital for treatment of his injuries.
McDonald has been charged with one count of attempted murder and one count of wanton endangerment. The investigation remains ongoing and anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office.
