FAIRMONT, W.Va. – Police officers in Fairmont have arrested 30 people as part of a joint operation today called “Spring Cleaning.”

In a release from the City of Fairmont, officers with the Fairmont Police Department, in collaboration with the Marion County Sheriff’s Department and five other law enforcement entities took part in 30 arrests in Fairmont and other nearby communities in the county as part of and 87 felony drug arrests operation.

According to the Fairmont Police Department, the targets for the operation were individuals under investigation for distributing fentanyl and other drugs. 81 of the 87 arrests were related to fentanyl. More arrests are pending, and multiple drug trafficking investigations are still ongoing.

The City of Fairmont did not release the names of those arrested tonight, citing the nature of the investigations and ongoing case work.

The White Hall Police Department, Mannington PD, the West Virginia State Police, the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the Three Rivers Drug and Violent Crimes Task Force also participated in the operation.
