MONONGALIA COUNTY, W.Va. — Monongalia County Sheriff Todd Forbes has reported the truck driver involved in the fatal I-68 eastbound crash on I-68 has been arrested in Arizona.

Singh Sukhjinder’s arrest in Phoenix, Arizona, was the result of coordinated efforts by multiple law enforcement agencies. He is currently in custody. The Monongalia County Prosecutor’s Office will begin the extradition process.

Singh Sukhjinder is accused of driving recklessly in wintery conditions January 19 when he lost control on the on the eastbound I-68 bridge over Cheat Lake. Singh’s tractor-trailer hit a car driven by Kevin Lataille on the bridge knocking him over the side.

Lataille was reported missing that day and pings from his cell phone were the first clues that led to his discovery.

Lataille and his car were recovered from the frigid lake one week after the crash during a multi-agency effort.

Sukhjinder has been charged with negligent homicide.
