MORGANTOWN W.Va — Singh Sukhjinder, the suspect in an I-68 eastbound fatality on Jan. 19, was misidentified and arrested earlier this week by the Phoenix Police Department, per a Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department press release on Friday.
A man falsely believed to be Sukhjinder was arrested during a traffic stop on March 4 in Phoenix, Arizona, and later released, with the actual suspect being apprehended two days later.
According to the press release, Sukhjinder was arrested by Law Enforcement in the State of California on March 6 in Fontana, California.
Sukhjinder’s alleged reckless driving on Jan. 19 caused his tractor-trailer to hit and knock a car driven by Kevin Lataille off the side of the Cheat Lake Bridge on I-68 eastbound.
Lataille was reported missing that day and recovered from the lake one week after the crash.
Sukhjinder is being held at the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga, California, with a scheduled court appearance in San Bernadino Superior Court on March 10.
