FAIRMONT, W.Va — A woman was arrested after Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies said her neglect of her incapacitated sister resulted in a brain bleed.
Karen Hanson, 65, of Fairmont, was arrested for allegedly removing her incapacitated sister from medical care against medical advice and neglected to provide adequate care for her and leaving her health to decline.
According to the court documents the neglect of the woman led to her being taken to the hospital by EMS on March 6th, where several signs of severe neglect, unkept open wounds and a brain bleed were found.
According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Adult Protective Services worked with the department to investigate this case with the evidence is supported by medical records and witness statements.
Hanson is charged with abuse or neglect of incapacitated adult resulting in serious bodily injury and is currently in the North Central Regional Jail with bond set at $75,000.
