MARION COUNTY, W.Va. – A Marion County man is in custody for allegedly choking a woman and then striking a dog that was defending her with a shovel, according to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies with the Marion County Sheriff’s Department arrested Geoffrey Anderson, 32, of Worthington, on Wednesday after the domestic incident that occurred on January 9th.
According to deputies, Anderson was allgedly asked to leave the residence of the woman who was assaulted, where he then grabbed her by the throat and began choking her. As she was attempting to get him off of her, her dog began defending her by attacking Anderson, he then grabbed a nearby metal shovel and struck the dog in the head.
According to court documents, the dog was left with a wound that left a large gash above the dog’s left eye.
Anderson is charged with cruelty to animals and domestic battery and is currently in North Central Regional Jail with no bond set at this time.
