CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — A Harrison County man has been charged with cruelty to animals after animal control officers found a malnourished dog in his care while taking multiple dogs from a Harrison County residence.

Jeremiah Todd, 25, of Harrison County was arrested after deputies with the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call on February 14, where they assisted members of the county’s animal control department at a residence.

According to a criminal complaint, deputies stated that three dogs were allegedly under the care of Todd, all three were taken from the residence.

Animal control noted that one of the dogs was malnourished and that when the dog was taken to a veterinarian, it was determined that the dog was “malnourished,” saying that its “ribs were showing” and it was “skinny.”

Todd has been charged with cruelty to animals. He is being held in North Central Regional Jail.
