MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Mountaineer Area Robotics (MARS) team 2614 recently returned from a three day competition at the Rochester Institute of Technology.
The team of 41 students from five counties completed nine qualification matches with their robot Marvin XVII with a record of 6 – 3, placing them 12th among 54 teams.
As the captain of the 8th and final playoff alliance, the team selected Cadet Robotics team 6868 and The Mavericks team 2252 for
their alliance, but were eliminated in the semifinalround.
MARS was awarded the Gracious Professionalism Award that recognizes the team who demonstrates FIRST Core values and works together with teams both on and off the field. MARS exemplified the award with their assistance to their Tucker Teams initiative where they offer troubleshooting help.
MARS will also be competing the Smoky Mountains Regional in Sevierville, Tennessee on April 3-5th and the World Championship in Houston, Texas on April 16-19th.
