KINGWOOD, W.Va. — A Kingwood vape store has been accused of selling products to underage customers after a seizure of suspected marijuana and “a large amount of cash” was conducted by law enforcement and state officials.

The Preston County Sheriff’s Office announced an investigation found that the King Tobacco & Vape on West Main Street in Kingwood was selling “marijuana as defined by WV State Code” and was believed to be selling products to underaged customers, including students from Preston High School.

According to the release, the school resource officer at Preston High School received “numerous complaints” about students purchasing from King Tobacco & Vape before a search was conducted by law enforcement.

The West Virginia Department of Agriculture conducted a search and inspection on the shop on Tuesday where they seized “numerous items,” including suspected marijuana.

In West Virginia, vape stores often sell hemp-derived projects, and products that contain THC like delta-8 and delta-9, which are legal to sell to people who are at least 21 years old in West Virginia.

No additional information on any pending charges in the case have been released.
