KINGWOOD, W.Va. – A Preston County woman is in custody for allegedly attempting to shoot her husband in the head on Wednesday.

Preston County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Emily Chambers, 26, of Bruceton Mills, after she allegedly shot her husband, Josiah Chambers, during an argument that took place on Route 72 near Lick Run in Kingwood.

According to court documents, Emily Chambers and her husband were driving southbound on Route 72 near Lick Run in Kingwood when the couple began to argue over Josiah not coming home the day prior. Emily then allegedly produced a pistol from the driver’s door after her husband refused to speak during the argument, at which point she stopped the vehicle by a wide spot along the Cheat River and fired a round as soon as the married couple stepped out of the car.

Deputies also allege that Emily then turned the vehicle around, pulled back up to Josiah, pointed the pistol at him and told him she was going to kill him before firing another round that narrowly missed his head. She later attempted to find her husband while he ran to the river and hid in the rocks before being arrested by law enforcement.

Emily Chambers is charged with charged with attempted murder and wanton endangerment and is currently in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail with bond set at $750,000.
