BUCKAHNNON, W.Va. — In Upshur County, a truck was left hanging from powerlines after a crash early Monday morning.
Around 1:30 a.m. the truck crashed into a tree, mailboxes, a fence and a power pole before being suspended from power lines on Old Elkins Road.
Deputies with the Upshur County Sheriff’s Department said the driver admitted to drinking as many as 12 alcoholic beverages prior to the crash.
The preliminary investigation determine the truck was traveling too fast for the conditions, left the roadway, hit a tree, multiple mailboxes, a fence, then a power pole.
A limited number of residents in the area lost power to the crash. Mon Power crews have restored power to the customers.
The Buckhannon Police and Fire Departments responded along with Upshur County EMS.
