DAVIS, W.Va. — A Virginia-based company has announced plans for a 300 acre self-contained power plant between Thomas and Davis for the apparent operation of a data center.
The proposed “Ridgeline Facility” would be a natural gas-fired power plant with three 10 million gallon diesel fuel tanks onsite as a back up power source. Environmental groups and some elected officials have expressed concerns about the possibility of air and ground water pollution.
The company, Fundamental Data lists Purceville, Virginia as its headquarters and the facility is expected to be operational in the next three years.
This proposal comes as the House passed HB 2014, establishing a Certified Microgrid Program and has sent it to the Senate for consideration.
An informational meeting is planned for Sunday, April 13 at the Davis Volunteer Fire Department at 2 p.m.
