UPSHUR COUNTY, W.Va. — One person was killed in a crash on U.S. Route 33 Moneday afternoon in Upshur County.
Deputies from the Upshur County Sheriff’s Department at 1:23 p.m. they responded to a report of a single-vehicle over an embankment. Deputies found a truck owned by United Contracting Inc. of Buckhannon, driven by Daniel Carson, 50, of Buckhannon, was westbound when he crossed the median into the eastbound lane and hit a guardrail. After striking the guardrail the went over an embankment and came to a rest in a stream.
Carson was pronounced dead as a result of the crash.
Route 33 was closed while crews recovered the vehicle.
The investigation is ongoing.
Troopers from West Virginia State Police Detachtments in Buckhannon and Elkins assisted the Upshur County Sheriff’s Department.
