MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — During the first five days of early voting in Morgantown, 273 ballots have been cast.
The historic train depot in Hazel Ruby McQuain Park has averaged a little more than 50 voters a day, and the highest total so far in early voting was Saturday, April 19, when 93 ballots were cast.
Voters are selecting representatives in Wards Two, Four, and Six.
Jodi Hollingshead is running in the Second Ward, and incumbent Jenny Selin, the longest-serving member of the council, is running unopposed. Former Main Street Morgantown President Mark Downs and local business owner Stephanie Hunt is running to represent the residents in the Sixth Ward.
Voters will be asked to decide on an amendment to the city charter that would allow the city manager to live outside city limits and whether Article 1157 (Camping on Public Property) should be repealed.
Morgantown Municipal Election Day is April 29. The polls will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
