CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — An Elkins man will serve time in federal prison after he was found guilty for being part of a Morgantown drug ring that trafficked drugs from Philadelphia.
The United States Department of Justice announced that William Durnal, 60, will spend 100 months (8 years, 4 months) behind bars after he sold and possessed methamphetamine in the Morgantown area. Durnal was indicted along with 24 others in February 2024 in connection to a Philadelphia-based drug ring that distributed large amounts of meth, fentanyl and cocaine to north central West Virginia from apartments in Morgantown.
According to court documents, hundreds of grams of meth was found at Durnal’s home at the time it was searched by law enforcement. He also has a criminal history that includes theft, forgery, burglary, battery and passing counterfeit money.
Durnal will also serve three years of supervised release.
The Mon Metro Drug Task Force and the Mountain Region Task Force investigated the case.
