MONONGALIA COUNTY, W.Va. — A Detroit man with a felony record is facing charges in Monongalia County after police allege he displayed a fire arm to a victim and was conspiring to sell dangerous drugs.
On Friday, deputies from the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to a report of a subject brandishing a firearm at an apartment on Van Voohirs Road in Morgantown.
Upon arrival, the victim told deputies Daron Buford, 34, of Detroit, Michigan, pulled a gun out on him and cocked the bolt, ejecting a live round from the chamber.
Deputies quickly located a .45 caliber “Blazer round” near the rear driver’s side tire of a vehicle which Buford was reportedly driving and obtained a search warrant for the apartment.
During the search, deputies found a gun in a closet that had the same .45 caliber Blazer ammunition recovered in the parking lot. Deputies said Buford was previously convicted of a felony making it illegal for him to possess a firearm.
Deputies said they also recovered containers of methamphetamine and heroin, packaging materials, and scales.
Buford has been charged with wanton endangerment, being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm and conspiracy.
Buford is being held in North Central Regional Jail on a $60,000 bond.
