FAIRMONT, W.Va. — A 28 year old Fairmont man has been jailed after fighting and threatening police at the scene of an accident Friday.

Deputies from the Marion County Sheriff’s Department said Joseph Garrett, 28, was involved in the accident on Brush Run Road and when they arrived he became combative when they attempted to place him in handcuffs.

When one of the deputies attempted to tase Garrett, he grabbed the taser wires and tried to get the weapon out of the deputy’s hand. When Garrett tried to pull the deputy toward him he punched Garrett in the face.

Once Garrett was handcuffed he told deputies he knew where they lives and that he planned to come for them.

After he was placed in custody he continued to resist by kicking and biting multiple officers. Police then transferred Garrett to a police vehicle with a cage and transported him to the sheriff’s office where he refused to cooperate during the fingerprinting phase.

Garrett is charged with four counts of felony threats of terrorist acts and is being held in the North Central Regional Jail on a $100,000 bond.
