GREENWOOD, W.Va. — The man accused of driving a tractor-trailer that hit a car on Interstate 68 in Monongalia County during a snowstorm and killed the driver inside it has been booked into the North Central Regional Jail.

Officers with the West Virginia Division of Correction and Rehabilitation officially booked Sukhjinder Singh, 37, into jail at 6 a.m. on Saturday on a charge of negligent homicide.

Singh allegedly drove a 2025 Freightliner tractor-trailer into the 2013 Hyundai that had Kevin Lataille inside on the Cheat Lake Bridge during a storm that took place in January 2025, sending the vehicle into the lake.

Kevin Lataille’s car and body were later recovered from Cheat Lake on January 26.

Singh was first arrested in Fontana, California, on March 6 and held in the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga after refusing to waive his extradition. He was later served with a governor’s warrant and ordered into the custody of the state of West Virginia for extradition on April 30.

Singh is being held on a $500,000 cash bond. Lataille’s family has also filed a federal lawsuit against Singh.
