FAIRMONT, W.Va. – A Fairmont man was arrested by Marion County Sheriff’s Department deputies for allegedly beating a pregnant woman while she was driving with two toddlers in the backseat.
Deputies arrested Hannibal Ryan, 28, on Wednesday near the Price Cutter on Fairmont Avenue after he allegedly almost caused the vehicle to wreck in what was called a ‘rolling domestic incident.’ According to first responders, contact was made with the vehicle and allegedly found the female victim driving the car, Ryan in the passenger seat and a 2-year-old and 3-year-old in the backseat.
According to a criminal complaint, Ryan was reportedly intoxicated and allegedly grabbed the wheel of the vehicle attempting to put it out of gear and/or into park while the woman was driving. He also allegedly struck the woman multiple times and grabbed her by her hair, which almost caused the vehicle to crash into a bridge. Deputies also noted that the female victim is currently pregnant with Ryan’s child.
During the incident, Ryan also allegedly threw a partially full glass bottle of Crown Royal past the two toddlers in the backseat in an attempt to hide it when deputies stopped the vehicle. Ryan was confirmed to be the stepfather of the two toddlers.
Ryan is charged with child neglect creating risk of injury. He is currently held at the North Central Regional Jail with bond set at $25,000.
