WESTOVER, W.Va. — The City of Westover has partnered with the Morgantown Mall to host the 3rd Annual Family Fun Extravaganza.
The festival will take place starting Friday, June 6, starting at 11 a.m. with a wide variety of activities, live performances, and carnival-themed entertainment that will be hosted for the next three days at the parking lot of the Morgantown Mall. Event co-organizer Silas Lee-Vanscoy encourages Morgantown area residents to take part in the free-to-enter event that will take place throughout the weekend.
“It’s happening rain or shine, opening up Friday from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m., Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m., where there’s also a car show,” said Lee-Vanscoy.
The Family Fun Extravaganza will be set up much like a traditional carnival that is hosted at local fairs from across the Mountain State. While food vendors will be open throughout the festival, stations will also be open for kids to see live animals, ride animatronic dinosaurs, and play dozens of carnival games and inflatables that will be open until 9 p.m. from Friday through Sunday. Costs to take part in rides and games will vary, with a chance to purchase VIP tickets for the event.
“We have a huge array of inflatables, an animatronic dinosaur ride and exhibit, and we have a bumper car arena for the little ones,” said Lee-Vanscoy. “We have craft vendors, food vendors, and we have the alpaca farm.”
Vanscoy also mentioned that there will be at least three performative acts that will be hosted on each of the three days. This will include live demonstrations of woodcrafting, firefighter operations, as well as a pirate thrill show that was presented at previous events hosted in Clarksburg back in May. All performances will take place rain or shine.
“We have live, educational, engaging shows that come far and wide,” said Lee-Vanscoy. “One is the firefighter show, one is the Grandpa Crafting Show, and there is no gate fee for those shows.”
Admission is free for the 3rd Annual Family Fun Extravaganza, with a chance to purchase VIP passes for $25 per ticket and $15 for children aged 3 or under. This would include unlimited access to all inflatables, the petting zoo, the animatronic dinosaur rides, and VIP seating for all shows, along with a meet-and-greet with all cartoon characters expected to attend. With the event free to enter with a chance to enjoy live shows and enjoy carnival-themed attractions, Lee-Vanscoy encourages Morgantown area residents to stop by the Morgantown Mall this weekend.
“There’s no gate fee thanks to our sponsors, some of those include the City of Westover and Harley Davidson, and we want to thank them also,” said Lee-Vanscoy. “It’s just going to be a lot of fun and a lot of laughter for the whole family.”
