SALEM, W.Va. — First responders were on scene at a Harrison County lake Friday after receiving reports of a missing kayaker.
Harrison County 911 reported that multiple agencies responded to upper Dog Run Lake in Salem at 11:30 a.m., after witnesses saw a man in the kayak yelling and go under the water.
According to officials on scene, a kayak and an anchor have been recovered. However, the man has not been found.
Dive teams and drones are being used on scene in an attempt to locate the man.
The Salem, Smithburg and Nutter Fort fire departments are on scene, along with the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources Police Dive Team, Harrison County Sheriff’s Office, the Clarksburg Police Department, the Salem Police Department and Salem EMS.
Authorities are asking people to avoid to the area at this time.
