BUCKHANNON, W.Va. — A Cross Lanes woman has been charged in Upshur County for allegedly threatening a 68-year-old man with a scoped rifle while wearing body armor.

The West Virginia State Police announced that Jocelyn Krum, 28, of Cross Lanes, was arrested after the reported incident that occurred on Sunday at a Buckhannon home located on Mt. Lebanon Road.

According to a press release, troopers were informed when they arrived at the scene that a person entered the residence and confronted 68-year-old Edward Samm. During the confrontation, the person allegedly threatened Samm with a scoped rifle while walking in and out of the home before firing a shot in Samm’s direction, fleeing the scene not long after.

Krum was later identified by investigators as the person who shot at Samm, which prompted a multi-county search conducted by state police. Troopers in South Charleston were informed of the situation, with Krum eventually located in Kanawha County on Monday. Krum was taken into custody without incident.

Krum faces charges of burglary, wanton endangerment in possession of a firearm, prohibited person in possession of a firearm, and wearing body armor during the commission of a felony.

An investigation by state police into Krum’s motive is ongoing.
