CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — A 39-year old Clarksburg woman faces up to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to the robbery of the MVB Bank in downtown Clarksburg in June of last year.
Chantal Larue Skinner, also known as Chantal Larue Cleer told the judge she acted out of desperation when facing eviction from the home where she cared for two children and a grandchild. She went on to say local organizations were unable to help creating a stituation that caused her to panic.
She fled the bank with more than $1,100, but was captured quickly and admitted to the crime.
Skinner also told the court she was on prescription subutex and has a prior conviction for forgery and access device fraud.
Skinner was allowed to enter a plea to the lesser included offense of robbery of a bank. A guilty plea to armed robbery of a bank could result ina sentence with no probation and a 10 to 25 year term.
