MONONGALIA COUNTY, W.Va. — In the Clinton Water Association service area, progress is being made to restore water, but it doesn’t look like customers will have water this weekend.

Representative Patrick Kirby said that means the 11,000 customers in the district remain under a Boil Water/Conservation Advisory until further notice. Kirby said crews have made progress, testing continues, and where possible, tanks are being refilled.

“Throughout 119, Route 73, Goshen Road, Halleck Road, and out to Gladesville, we do not anticipate the Boil Water/Conservation Advisory being lifted this weekend—it’s a day-by-day thing,” Kirby said.

Crews will distribute water Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at two locations in the Morgantown area while crews continue to test and fix portions of the system. Residents who are unable to travel and need water are asked to call or text 681-867-8631.

“We do have water distribution set up for the weekend, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Walmart on Hornbeck Road and the Clinton Water Association Office at 703 Green Bag Road,” Kirby said. “We will continue to work over the weekend to address this.”

Kirby said this weekend crews will continue their investigation, inspecting, testing, and repairing if needed through the weekend. Information about progress through the weekend will be sent to customers via text message, and they will begin to use flyers as well to get the word out.

“We will continue to work through the weekend, and if we get more updates into the evening as we continue to work, we will share those out,” Kirby said. “We have shared text messages out.”

The testing process requires portions of the system to be isolated, which could stop water service temporarily for some customers. When the test has been completed, water service should continue for those customers.

“Right now, different neighborhoods are being cut off that may have had water as we do the leak testing as we continue to isolate it, but they are being brought back online,” Kirby said.
