MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The Morgantown Utility Board (MUB) has announced plans to begin night operations at the intersection of University Avenue and Walnut Street beginning Sunday, August 10.

MUB crews will temporarily close a single lane in both directions of University Avenue at the intersection with Walnut Street beginning at 8 p.m. Sunday. The far left lane of Walnut Street as it approaches University Avenue will also be closed. Lane closures are scheduled between 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. for at least the next two weeks to install a 24 inch water main.

All lanes will reopen at 6 a.m. each morning.

Here are the lane closures:
— Traveling toward the Westover Bridge: The right lane from the corner of Wall Street (beginning of the parking area of Vic’s Garage) through Walnut Street (in front of The Brew Pub)
— Traveling away from the Westover Bridge: The left lane in front of the County Sheriff building will be closed through Walnut Street
— Traveling down Walnut Street: The far left lane will be closed from Chestnut Street to University Avenue

Once complete, the water line will tie into a 26 high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipe being directionally drilled beneath the Monongahela River. The tie-in location will be the bottom of Walnut Street.

Motorists are advised to exercise caution when traveling through this area.
