MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — West Virginia University officials have released a community notice warning students and their parents about apotentital scam.
Students are reminded that university officials will never contact parents or other family members directly to demand payments. University Police have received several reports of scammers falsely claiming officers have arrested students and payments are necessary for enrollments in diversion programs.
Information about the scam or potential victims should call 304-293-3136 to report it. Legitimate calls from UPD can be verified at the same number.
