MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — WVU will be hosting its 4th annual Week of Purpose this upcoming week on campus. A week full of interesting events, the Week of Purpose will begin on Sept. 22nd and conclude on Sept. 26th.
Throughout the years, this event has been molded to aid students in deciding what impact they would like to have as current students and in the future at their desired workforce. It also allows students to see the opportunities and resources that they have at hand as current undergraduates at WVU.
Cate Schlobohm, Director at the WVU Purpose Center, joined WAJR’s “Talk of the Town” to further address the importance of this event.
“Experiences can change your overall purpose and that impact that you do want to make,” Schlobohm said. “We help students understand that if their path changes over time, that’s okay, and it’s happened to lots of people. They’re not the first to experience it. We work with all of the partners, and we collaborate across the university to make sure students can navigate that path without losing time.”
Throughout the course of the week, 46 different programs, ranging from meeting a therapy dog to a workshop teaching students and faculty how to understand their strengths, will occur.
“There’s lots of people across the university who are really helping to make that robust student experience,” Schlobohm stated. “I think one of the things that’s great about being a student there is that you have all of those opportunities at your fingerprints, and you get to explore and figure it out.”
WVU will also have programming across campus talking about purpose at the WVU Heath Sciences Center and Engineering College, as well.
The Week of Purpose has gained over 80,000 impressions over the years, and WVU is looking forward to helping more students find their current and future purpose this upcoming week.
