WESTOVER, W.Va. — A man who is listed as homeless has been charged for allegedly robbing a Westover bank back in 2024.

The Westover Police Department announced that Scott Beaucham, 53, was arrested for allegedly stealing $3,217 from the Wesbanco on Commerce Drive on October 23, 2024.

According to a criminal complaint, Beaucham allegedly “provided a threatening note” to the bank teller, which stated that a member of the person’s “family had been kidnapped and that they were being held hostage at the nearby McDonald’s parking lot in a van.” Beaucham then fled the scene before Westover PD officers arrived, where a witness told investigators he allegedly entered a blue Buick LeSabre with its rear driver’s side hubcap missing. No van was located as part of the investigation.

Westover PD learned of Beaucham’s identity on November 14, 2024, when they received surveillance from an Exxon that showed Beaucham purchasing a can of Steel Reserve. According to the complaint, he also allegedly wore the same clothing during the commission of the robbery.

A warrant was eventually issued for Beaucham’s arrest on December 12, 2024, after he was positively identified as the man involved in the robbery.
