MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — A Morgantown man is behind bars after the testimony of two juveniles about years of abuse and violent treatment.

The investigation began in June when deputies from the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department learned about the testimony of two minors at the child advocacy center that Christopher Moore, 38, had abused and been violent with the juveniles since 2022.

The children told investigators Moore choked one of the juveniles, slapped them in the face, and slammed one of the the victim’s head off of things. Additionally, the juvenile said Moore picked up the other juvenile and threw him on a table and through a hamster cage causing injury.

The second victim said he tried to record one of the assaults but Moore saw he was recording and held him down and choked him before taking the phone and deleting the video.

Deputies were able to confirm the testimony of the juveniles with statements from other multiple individuals. When deputies attempted to take a statement from Moore he declined and asked for legal counsel.

Moore has been charged with child abuse and is being held in North Central Regional Jail.
