FAIRMONT, W.Va. — The suspected president of the Pagan Motorcycle Club will be back in Marion County Circuit Court in the Henry Silver murder case on January 20.
A jury could not reach a verdict in the case against Ryan Lane for murder, conspiracy, and organized criminal enterprise during a September trial after two days of deliberations, and he was ultimately released on bond and placed on home confinement.
Lane also has a court appearance scheduled for Friday, November 21, after being accused of violating the terms of his home confinement.
Lane is one of six defendants accused of killing Silver in the parking lot of a Carolina apartment complex because they believed he was romantically involved with a member, John Wolfe, of the motorcycle club. Wolfe is serving a life sentence for first-degree murder in the case, and the suspected shooter, Austin Mullins, was sentenced to 40 years in prison.
The attorney for Lane, Elgin McArdle, was charged with 13 misdemeanors in the case after being accused of violating evidence rules, and her private investigator, L.J. Maxey, has been charged with working without the proper license.
Maxey will be in court December 3, but the status of the 13 misdemeanor charges against McArdle is unclear.
Maxey had requested an emergency hearing to dismiss the charges, alleging the prosecution was inappropriately commenting on the case in social media and defaming him.
