FAIRMONT, W.Va. — Alleged Pagans Motorcycle Club leader Ryan Lane will receive no jail time after pleading guilty to a charge of “organized criminal enterprise” as part of the 2022 murder case of Henry Silver.
Lane was sentenced to five years of probation and ordered to pay a $10,000 fine along with court costs as part of a ruling by Marion County Circuit Judge Patrick Wilson on Wednesday, less than three months after agreeing to a plea deal for the single felony charge.
Prosecutors asked for 5 years of home confinement, a $10,000 fine, and seven years of probation. The defense requested time served, which equated to roughly 18 months. According to the West Virginia State Code, a felony charge of “organized criminal enterprise” can carry a maximum sentence of up to 10 years in prison.
As part of the plea agreement, charges for first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit a felony were dropped. The agreement was made about two months after a mistrial was declared in Lane’s murder trial in September. after the jury was deadlocked on determining a verdict.
To start proceedings on Wednesday, Judge Wilson heard motions from Marion County Assistant Prosecutor Sean Murphy and Defense Attorney Elgine McArdle that the other each be dismissed from the case. It was ruled that the motions were moot due to no pending matters in the case against Lane except for sentencing.
Lane was one of six people charged in relation to the 2022 murder of Henry Silver by multiple members of the Pagans Motorcycle Club. John Wolfe is serving a life sentence for first-degree murder in the case, and the suspected shooter, Austin Mullins, was sentenced to 40 years in prison.
Lane is set to have his home confinement bracelet cut off later this week.
