FAIRMONT, W.Va — Deputies from the Marion County Sheriff’s Department have arrested a local couple after a stabbing report resulted in evidence of child abuse.

Deputies responded to a report of a stabbing at the home of Dalton Yoho and Mandy Knotts on Swisher Hill Court and observed a 2-year-old girl with several bruises covering most of her backside.

Deputies found Knotts at a neighbor’s house suffering from a stab wound to her right leg. Deputies determined Yoho stabbed Knotts with a kitchen knife after an investigation.

Deputies said the 2-year-old girl had bruises on her back, legs, and buttocks from being struck by Yoho.

Yoho has been charged with one count of malicious wounding in the stabbing and one count of child abuse by a parent or guardian for the injuries to the 2-year-old girl. Knotts has been charged with child neglect creating risk of injury, deputies said.

Both are currently being arraigned and transported to jail.
