LOST CREEK, W.Va. — All lanes on I-79 northbound in Harrison County are reopened after two crashes caused significant delays Thursday afternoon.
Around noon a tractor-trailer carrying cake mix rolled at mile marker 109 in the Lost Creek area. The crash and spill closed the left lane of the northbound side.
Officials said 42,000 pounds of cake mix cargo spilled over the highway creating a difficult cleanup.
Reports indicate the driver was able to get out of the truck under his own power and is not injured.
Around 1:45 p.m. a box truck collided with a van at exit 107 seriously injuring one person. The victim was flown from the scene by HealthNet with unspecified injuries.
Firefighters from Anmoore, Jane Lew, Lost Creek, Bridgeport, Stonewood and West Milford, police from Bridgeport, the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department and, the state Division of Highways all responded to the scene.
