FAIRMONT, W.Va. — Officials in the city of Fairmont have declared an emergency and plan to demolish the partially collapsed structure on Adams Street.
The City of Fairmont has declared the structure at 200 Adams Street an imminent danger due to the location, condition, and potential threat to public safety and has authorized an emergency demolition order.
No injuries were reported when a significant portion of the vacant building collapsed Friday around 1:30 a.m.
The structure was condemned and the owner received a raze or repair order on Aug. 18. In response, the city closed that portion of Monroe Street and it remains closed currently.
