MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — All northbound lanes have been reopened on Interstate 79 after a semi-truck accident caused a closure just before the I-68 interchange in Morgantown for most of Thursday morning.
Monongalia County Emergency Management (MECCA 911) officials confirmed that the accident took place at around 4:40 a.m., when the semi-truck blocked all northbound lanes starting at around mile marker 146 on I-79. The Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department responded to the initial call.
Emergency crews addressed the scene for close to eight hours before one lane was reopened at around 12:30 p.m. Thursday.
The closure caused backups that reached parts of I-79 located in the Winfield area.
No injuries have been reported at this time.
