Clarksburg man sentenced in fatal shooting

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. – A Clarksburg has been sentenced in connection with a deadly shooting in April of 2020 on Duff Avenue.

Taron Lackey, 28, has been sentenced a one year suspended in prison and seven years of probation for voluntary manslaughter.

Reports indicate Lackey was in his home when he heard a loud noise. Lackey got his 9mm pistol and went outside where he saw a subject standing near his porch. When Lackey asked the man to leave an argument ensued in which one shot was fired into the subject’s forearm.

The victim was flown to Ruby Memorial Hospital but died from his injuries.

If Lackey violates probation and is sent to prison he will be given credit for time served.

A restitution hearing will be held on September 9 at 10 a.m.
