Diversity Week begins from award winning WVU LGBTQ+ Center, professor

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The WVU LGBTQ+ Center has been recognized by BestColleges as one of the “Best Colleges for LGBTQ Students” and professor of Women’s and Gender Studies, Dr. Cris Mayo has been recognized as the regional 2019 LGBTQ Leadership Award from the National Diversity Council.

Dr Mayo said,”That’s just great, we want to get the word out about how wonderful WVU is in general, but how in specific we have so many services and support services for LGBTQ people.”

As far as the regional honor Dr. Mayo said,”This is really an award that celebrates the work that the assistant director Ellen Rodrigues has done, the program specialist Brad Grimes has done and all the wonderful student workers we’ve been working with on community improvement projects, and in fact all the people of WVU who have taken the issue of inclusion and welcome serious.”
