ELKINS, W.Va. — A Randolph County man will spend over two and a half years in prison on a federal weapons charge.

Johnny Lee Green Jr., 56, of Elkins, was sentenced Wednesday at the Federal Court in Elkins to 33 months in prison for unlawful possession of a firearm.
In 1978, Green was convicted of the felony offenses of First Degree Murder and Using a Weapon in Commission of a Felony. As a result of those convictions, he is prohibited from possessing firearms.
He was discovered in July 2014 in unlawful possession of a 9mm pistol.
Green pleaded guilty in April to one count of being a Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives investigated this case
Assistant U.S. Attorney Sarah Montoro prosecuted on behalf of the government, while U.S. District Judge John Preston Bailey presided.
