Fairmont man faces additional charges in Granville sex sting

GRANVILLE, W.Va. – A Fairmont man is facing additional charges following a forensic analysis of his electronic devices.

James Metz, 48, was first arrested in July of 2019 accused of soliciting juveniles online. Police allege Metz was messaging with a 23-year-old detective from the Granville Police Department who told Metz he was a 15-year-old girl.

During a search of his Suncrest Boulevard home police located 600 images of porn involving juveniles. Metz acknowledged owning the laptop and told investigators where it was in the home.

Metz has been charged with distribution and exhibiting material depicting minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.
