Fairmont Regional Medical Center lays off 25 without notice

FAIRMONT, W.Va. – Twenty-five workers arrived for their shift at the Fairmont Regional Medical Center this morning only to find they no longer had a job.

Unconfirmed reports indicate the layoffs came with no notice.

Fairmont Regional Medical Center is owned by Alecto Healthcare Services, the parent company of the now defunct Ohio Valley Medical Center and Martins Ferry-based East Ohio Regional Hospital.

Fairmont General Hospital was pourchased by Alecto in June of 2014, the name was changed to the Fairmont Regional Medical Center in September of the same year.

Unconfirmed reports indicate there are no plans to close the hospital.
