Fairmont protester charged with destruction of property

FAIRMONT, W.Va. – A Fairmont man is facing charges after allegedly damaging three police cruisers during a protest on May 31.

A report from the Fairmont police Department says Devin linear, 23, unlawfully and intentionally did more than $3,700 in damage to the cars by writing expletives on them, kicking, striking them with a closed fist and sitting on them.

Officials say they were able use video from the protest shot by Linear as evidence.

Linear has been charged with destruction of property and is being held in the North Central Regional Jail.
