Fairmont State University Wind Ensemble plans virtual concert

FAIRMONT, W.Va. – The Fairmont State University Wind Ensemble will host a special online concert October 15 at 7:30 p.m. The ensemble will perform a wide range of selections under the direction of Greg Mulzet.

Featured will be works and arrangements by Philip Sparke, J.S. Bach, Bela Bartok and Tielman Susato. Also, Fairmont State Director of Choral and Vocal Activities Dr. Samuel Spears, will perform a piece named, “Armed Forces – The Pride of America,” arranged by Larry Clark and Greg Gilpin.

“In these uncertain times, we in the Falcon Band believe that our ability to play and perform music has never been more important,” said Greg Mulzet, Director of Fairmont State University Bands.

Cameras will be streaming to a wide remote audience throughout the event, although there will not be an audience physically present. The concert will be recorded and available for later view in the event an unforeseen disruption in service takes place.

“Even though our performance will be virtual, masked and distanced, you will be sure to feel our enthusiasm, musicianship and spirit,” Mulzet concluded.
