Former Hazelton inmate faces multiple charges in fatal prison attack

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. – A former inmate at the U.S. Penitentiary Hazelton, Stephen Crawford, 41, has been indicted for voluntary manslaughter, assualt with a dangerous weapon with intent to do bodily harm and one count of assault resulting in serious bodily injury.

U.S. Attorney Bill Powell says Crawford attacked an inmate who later died from his injuires.

Crawford faces up to 15 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000 for the voluntary manslaughter charge and faces up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000 for the other two charges.
