Former Mylan employee files discrimination suit

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – A former employee at the Mylan Pharmaceuticals at the Chestnut Ridge facility has filed a lawsuit against the company alleging age and disability discrimination.

Kenneth K. Zara, 62, was hired in April of 2007 as a blender and worked his way up to a fluid bed coordinator by 2013. In 2016, Byron Stevens, Zara’s supervisor asked him to consider early retirement or taking a lesser job as a packer. Weeks later, another supervisor, Mike Frisco, made similar recommendations to Zara.

Next, Zara says he was assigned tasks he was not trained for and was terminated for making an error in January of 2019.

The lawsuit alleges Zara was treated much harsher than younger employees who had allegedly made more severe mistakes.

The suit says Zara suffered severe emotional distress, lost income and benefits, attorney costs and other expenses.
