Harrison County man accused of selling fentanyl laced counterfeit pills

KINGWOOD, W.Va. – West Virginia State Police have accused a Harrison County man of selling a pill as oxycodone that was actually fentanyl.

Police responded to what looked like an altercation at the Heldreth Hotel and learned Matthew Franco, 38, of Nutter Fort, sold the pill to a member of the group causing them to overdose.

When troopers responded to the room Preston County EMS went to Franco told them he possibly had drug paraphernalia and was driving a U-Haul truck with Arizona registration.

After receiving a search warrant, police recovered bags, scales, paraphernalia and 50 counterfeit pills containing fentanyl that were made to look like Xannax and oxycodone. The weight of the pills was 13 grams.

Franco is being held in the North Central Regional Jail.
