Harrison County woman arrested for animal cruelty, escape

HARRISON COUNTY, W.Va. – Clarksburg police say Chole Calvert, 27, tortured and killed a kitten then escaped while being processed at the police station.

Calvert allegedly stomped on the kitten, threw it against a wall and strangled it. Police reports say Calvert told a friend she did “everything she could” to torture the kitten.

While being processed at the police station Saturday she freed herself from handcuffs and fled when the officer left the room.

Police were able to take her back into custody near the intersection of South Second Street and Washington Avenue.

Police say Calvert continued to try to escape while being taken back the processing center.

Calvert has been charged with animal cruelty and felony escape.
