Hathaway cites employment opportunity, declines First Ward council seat

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Morgantown city councilman-elect Patrick Hathaway has informed the administration his wife has accepted a job in Illinois and he will not accept his seat in the First Ward. Hathaway defeated write-in candidate Seth Collins by 531 votes in the April municipal election.

Hathaway serves as the chairman of the BOPARC Board- that term runs through June of 2023 and president of the 1st Ward Neighborhood association.

City council will now solicit applications and conduct an interview process to select a representative for the First Ward.
